3 Acne Do’s and Dont’s

The exact cause of acne is unknown. Despite the endless research that has been done to date, nothing has ever been conclusive as to what causes acne.

According to Journal Of Investigative Dermatology the main reason people develop acne is due to a hormonal imbalance and the lifestyle which includes exposure to environmental factors such as dust, kitchen fumes or traffic fumes.
With the onset of puberty we begin to overproduce male hormones called androgens. These hormones stimulate the oil glands in the skin and cause the pore clogging. The extra oil in the skin mixes with dead skin cells and the bacteria found on the surface of the skin. As a result the pores are clogged and inflammation in the follicles shows up in a form of painful zits or acne. This ruthless disorder can affect you emotionally as well as physically.

Sugar is a main cause of many health and skin problems.

Acne DO’s Tip 1: Wash Your Face Twice Daily with a gentle but exfoliating cleanser. Fruit acid cleanser like glycolic or AHA is best.
It seems really simple but this tip alone can prevent breakouts and other skin problems. Gentle exfoliation with a fruit acids sloughs off excess oil and bacteria from your face, back, and the neck while keeping the correct ph balance. Witch hazel and Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar can be used as a home remedy or quick acne treatment at home. Take it to the gym to wash off the face oils after workout.

Acne Don’ts Tip#1  Don’t use anything harsh, gritty on your skin as it strips the protective layer of the skin and in effect makes you more oily. Exfoliate with fruit acid or homemade masks made of egg whites and honey.

Acne DO’s Tip 2: Touching the skin with the hands and even the phone would clearly deposit bacteria onto the skin. Avoid touching your face.

Acne Don’ts Tip#2: Don’t pick, squeeze or scratch off your pimples. Not only this complicates the matters and spreads the infection under the skin resulting in more zits not to mention acne scars which are not very attractive either.

Acne Do’s Tip 3: Choose Your Cosmetics Wisely.
While searching through aisles of skin care products and makeup make sure they are mineral based or natural. For the oil-free product to be spreadable wax or glycerin is added to it and that is a synthetic oil. All skin care products that are not oil free contain natural oils which are beneficial for the skin.

Acne Don’ts Tip#3 Don’t buy into the oil-free frenzy. Oil free products are not good for the skin as they are made of chemicals and contain wax or glycerin to help it with spreadability. Look for products with natural oils such as lemon oil, jojoba oil, olive oil and so on. Make sure the first ingredient is water and the first five ingredients don’t list words that you can’t pronounce as this would indicate a synthetic compound.

3 Tips For Healthy Skin

When seeking expert opinion on managing acne , most will agree…

When seeking expert opinion on managing acne most will agree that you should begin much serious look at your diet as your lifestyle before blaming the hormones.

Acne breakouts can be an exceptionally frustrating especially for those who are going through hormonal changes. This skin disorder affect people from every corner of this very globe. Acne problems are most commonly found on people’s faces, necks, backs and chest. For the most part it starts during puberty.

Acne Tip 1: Wash the face twice a day with a good, fruit acid based cleanser. Don’t exfoliate with anything gritty as you are going to reduce the protective layer of the skin and become red and blotchy. I recommend AHA products. You can find this dual function cleanser at Zit Zapper Bar on facebook or on

After removing the makeup cleanse and moisturize the skin with a light moisturizer. Moisturizing will keep your skin balanced and prevent oiliness. This might sound like the complete opposite of what you are hear out there but you need to listen to the following explanation. Your body needs to stay in constant balance, a little dryness of the skin can spit out abundant amounts of body oils to moisturize it. That is a fact. And since the sweat and body oils stick together to form a heavy and sticky substance your pores will suffer; Hence the T-zone effect.
A typical mistake is made when trying to scrub the in hopes to get rid of large pores. Additionally don’t use any alcohol based or strong salicylic based products or astringents to tone the skin. It will leave the skin feel good for an hour and then it will become tight and eventually dry and then red. This imbalance will contribute to more oiliness. Use apple cider vinegar instead as it contains natural ingredients to combat bacteria and tone the skin.

Acne Tip 2: Keep this Hands Off The Face. I seems impossible to stop picking the skin but when you know that it creates more problems than good you may reconsider it next time you have a zit. Picking zits gives you a false sense of getting rid of it. Yes you get rid of the ugly white tip from the surface or even reduce the pain from swelling for a couple of hours.

But the truth is you can’t see what’s under the skin. You care spreading the infection under the skin just to see two more zits surrounding the one you’ve squeezed almost the next day. Try to find a pink solution that contains healing camphor with a small amount of salicylic acid. It is a spot treatment available online or in Sephora. It does not dehydrate the skin, it doesn’t cause peeling. Just heals it quickly and effectively.

Acne Tip 3: Be careful with your makeup. Don’t use heavy makeup thinking you might be concealing the zits. You effectively suffocate the skin and get more of the breakouts. Light mineral makeup is fine. Bare Minerals or Glominerals give you great coverage with less of the product on your skin.

Why does it work? Because minerals allow the skin to breathe. Yes it is more expensive but it is worth the money if it can make your skin clear again. Make sure to stop using makeup brushes, use makeup sponges that you can dispose frequently. I am talking about the makeup triangle sponges that you can get anywhere.

If you have long hair you need to stay away from using conditioning shampoos. They are too heavy and in fact they contain oils. When the hair touches the face all day long it becomes oily and it breaks you out. Keep the hair away from your face when actively breaking out but change your shampoo to Head And Shoulders with Zinc. Use conditioner separately from shampoo so that you can use less of it.

Acne Tip 4: Start eating healthier. Get rid of junk foods from your diet. Unfortunately what tastes good is bad for you when you have acne.

Everyone wants to have a healthy skin but when it comes to giving up the soda or pizza no one does it. There are consequences of eating the junk foods so it is your choice.

3 Steps to Clear Skin

Are you frustrated with all of those confusion around acne skin care?

Are you confused with all of the acne skin care? You are not alone.
Choosing the right skin care products is the first step in taming acne. However, your lifestyle change that eliminates toxins is more important than what you put on the skin. Digestive tract has mind-of-its-own. If you eat unhealthy foods it will reward you with a zit on your cheeks. On the other hand, if you are constantly stressing out and don’t get to wash your face regularly your body will reward you with zits on your forehead and sometimes on you neck!
There are many different reasons for acne or breakouts. Most of the time if you address it the right way and at the right time you can have your clear skin back in no time. I agree it could be confusing to know what and when to do it. Sometimes we play the wait-and-see game and other times we are more proactive and declare an immediate ‘attack’ on it by squeezing it.
Which method is the right one? It depends on the source of the problem. If you just ate three slices of pizza with loads of cheese on it, you will definitely break out the next day. And this will show up on your cheeks. Not on your chin so be sure of knowing the difference. You absolutely can’t squeeze those zits on your cheeks since the body is purging from the junk it has to deal with in your digestive tract. So what is the solution? Drink a lot of water. No sugary drinks and not dairy until you have it under control. When you do that you are helping the body to cleanse itself and reward you with clear skin.
Aside for your diet that needs adjustment you need to have a solid home care routine. Wash your face and moisturize it twice a day. Your skin care products will determine how quickly your skin is not going to be a problem skin. Occasional breakouts are expected and you should have enough of remedies and natural solution to fix your problem skin quickly without over drying it.

First step: Clean your face with a gentle face wash to eliminate dirt and excess oil. Some face wash contains salicylic acid that keeps the pores from clogging. Cleanser should be formulated for young skin and must be soap-free.
Clean face gently twice a day. Rinse with warm water and pat dry
Second step: Tone and Moisturize
Applying toner can be an extra step to help remove all traces of oil and dirt thus ready your acne skin for medication. Dab a toner on top of cotton wool and smooth gently in the entire face. And finish the skin care routine with a water based but not always oil-free moisturizer. Make sure the first five ingredients don’t contain wax or paraffin.
Third Step: Spot Treatment
There are several methods which they can implement for your own personal spot. Clay masks draw out excess oils and increase circulation. Wash it off with warm water. Follow up with an acne treatment such as medication, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide or apple cider vinegar.

What To Do With Your Acne Skin?

Dont assume all products that you acquire over the counter might meet your needs…

Don’t assume all over the counter products might meet your needs. It’s easy to read the labels and find an acne skincare treatment but will they work? Many people choose the acne skin care product as a result of reading social media posts that are showing an attractive spokesperson for the product. That may not be a good strategy when trying to help your skin to stop breaking out. Products alone are not enough. You need to learn what causes your acne and target the causes not the symptoms. See your skin care professional trained in acne treatments and solutions.
You have tried most products and still breaking out. Why?
The answer is you need to know why you are breaking out. The skin needs to be analysed and you need to have a plan of action. There are many skin types and your skin might be very different from the skin of your friend or even the poster girl on the advertising page. You can’t really use the same products as they because it might work for 2 weeks but backfire on you soon after.

Let’s talk about the type of skin that experiences the most breakouts. Oily /Combination skin. What to do with the acne and oily skin?

People with type of skin are usually afflicted by more breakouts compared to normal/dry or sensitive skin.
Those with oily skin usually have large pores and blackheads because the skin is thicker and it has a hard time to breathe. By the mid day the T-zone shows shiny residue and that is because it begins to sweat. The only way to avoid this is to cleanse the skin thoroughly morning and night and exfoliate it daily with a gentle scrub, nothing too harsh. Moisturizer plays very important part in taming the skin’s oil overproduction.

What is the best moisturizer? In Spite of all of the advertising gimmicks about oil free be best for young skin that is incorrect. Oil free means the product is free of the healthy oils but it contains the synthetic oils such as paraffin, wax, glycerin and other names you can’t even pronounce. Choose water based botanical products and this is our hands down the best moisturizer for acne skin. It does not strip your skin of moisture but it does not clog it. It is water based and it has citrus base. It helps the skin to heal and brings it to balance. No need for harsh products when healing acne. Your diet determines how often you break out. Avoid fried foods and sodas. Increase the water intake and eat your greens.

Zit Zapper Bar Skin Care

Acne if not treated quickly comes with the formation of scars. And most people are frustrated with the scar issues just as they were with the breakouts.

The quickest solution to remove the acne scars safely and without any injury or downtime is microdermabrasion. Usually it takes 4-6 sessions of professionally delivered microdermabrasion to reduce the scars and the skin discoloration, clean the pores and bring oil balance to the skin. Make sure to find a skin care provider that specializes in problem skin such as acne skin.

As we age our skin structure changes and you can’t keep using the harsh products containing benzyl peroxide or strong salicylic acids because the skin is going to get injured. Start learning about home remedies and one that comes to mind is Apple Cider Vinegar which can be used on zits directly without overdrying the skin around it. Make sure to cleanse that skin before applying it to the skin with a cotton ball. Just hold it for 2min-5 min. Don’t rinse it off just cover it with a light moisturizer.
